Quantum high score save woes

I've got one last problem to fix to get my Quantum 100% working. It does
not save high scores or game option settings when the game is turned off and
on (goes back to defaults). I switched out the X2212 chip with a new one
from Mark Capps, but no success. According to the schematics, there are
only a few items involved in the non-volatile memory routine, but they're
all soldered. I'm not the greatest at soldering and desoldering, so I'd
rather not take the shot-gun approach and just switch them all out.
Actually I'm hoping I didn't screw up a trace already that would be involved
with the X2212 chip that I switched.

I've posted the non-volatile memory section of the schematics here:

The 137288 at 3R is the X2212.

So besides my inadequacies at soldering/desoldering, I'm not so great at
figuring out how the IC's work either. Can anyone review the schematics and
go through how I can determine what IC in the high-score circuit is good or
bad, etc.? Or might it be another area altogether?

I've got a digital-multi-meter and a o-scope, and I'm not afraid to use
them! (But I admit, I don't know how to use an o-scope). Time to learn I
guess!

Joe
