That PROM is part of the vector generator state machine. If it goes, the
board will constantly reset itself and you'd probably see wacky vectors
flashing on and off on the screen.

Coincidentally, I had this very same problem on a friend's _Asteroids
Deluxe_ board just a couple of weeks ago. Programmed a replacement and that
fixed it.

FYI: Atari used the same chip (and the same contents) in both _Asteroids_
and _Asteroids Deluxe_.

What exactly would be the symptom if the 63S141 on say
an Asteroids Deluxe was bad? Would it still be able to
play blind? What is stored on it?
