I thought that there were an extra couple of roms on the main pcb for the
vectors too, plus the vector state machine prom iirc.

Yes, the mathbox can be troublesome, mine needs a prod now and again when
the math starts go go twitchy.

Afaik, you can still get into the diagnostics with a bad mathbox and I had a
small problem with the high score saver board which iirc would not boot into
the diagnostics until the game had been played and a high score saved, thus
initialising the i2c memory chip ( It was my first BZ board that I was
trying to repair and would not play) - Braze supplied me with a tweaked rom
image and this solved the problem.
