I've had a further prod at this tonight.....

There was an issue with the clock on the pcb.... I've replaced the 2n3904
and the 74s04... initially nothing, but I prodded around and its started to
clock now. The replacement parts were a bit of a lash up, as I could not
find my desoldering stations (please dont ask !!).... The 74S04 is on stilts
(the old legs) at the moment.... I'll tidy it all up later - promise !!

Anyway... I now have a clock.... and have booted into the diagnostics by
shorting the diag switch wires out..... I can advance through the tests
using the slam switch, and get the 4 note test tone ( thats a result in my
book ) - but no vectors just yet.....

I'm following this guide...
http://www.kfu.com/~nsayer/games/tempest.html#bad-vsm

I plan to get the HP comparitor out and start working though the VG
circuit.... Any advice would be appreciated....

Cheers, Colin
