You better call now. I was just there picking up my 19VLUP22 tube and he said he is shutting down and retiring at the end of this month.
He's got a nice shop, I'll have to post the pics I took when I get a chance.

Hawkeye tubes will rebuild that tube for you including repairing that crack. I don't have a link. do a google search.

Have you tried a CRT rejuvenator on it yet? If its not a bad short, you can blow that shorted crap right out with one of those. If nothing else, it will let you know exactly what is up with the tube.

              Hello,
I have been helping a friend restore his Tempest, and he recently was able to get a NOS 19VLUP22 tube . Tube seemed to be packed pretty well, in original NOS box, and looked good when unpacked. Never was bumped, jarred, or mishandled in any way during installation. Installed tube to chassis, began convergence.
Yoke and purity assembly were both still LOOSE, nothing tightened. Moved yoke carefully forward to do green calibration, screen was getting nice green crosshatch, starting to look good, suddenly the tube fades goes dark. I'm thinking, something must be up with the HV, I still hear yoke chatter, spot killer is off, picture was there, then faded. Suddenly, I hear the sizzle, and see the blue arc in the neck, and want to start ripping the rest of my hair out...
Does anybody have a source on new tubes? Please help if you can.
The old tube in this game has so much phosphor burn that it is almost unusable, former owner had to leave this poor thing running for a LONG time with no signal to monitor, the burns are terrible.
I remember Richardson electronics, but I guess they're long gone as a tube supplier of these..Please help if you can.
              Thanks Very Much,
              Michael Kelley
