We wipe it periodically to give the less hardcore something to shoot for.
We have a big cross section of players from total novice to world-record
holders, so clearing the scores once in a while gives less experienced
players a chance to "place" once in a while.  Otherwise there gets to just
be 'some guy' that'll dominate all the top scores and it demotivates the
casual players.  (ie, "that score is impossible")

I can't think of any vector game did an "all time" vs. "daily" highscore
table, but that's a nice solution.  People like to tweet/facebook when they
get a good score. ;-)
