No, no no...you move the heat around quickly, we are not trying to burn
through the board just heat it up fast so the leads can't conduct the
heat into the IC. Remember the manufacturers have a time chart on how
long one can apply heat to an IC in their spec sheets. A solder pot
would be much better, and spring loaded IC pullers only add to the
excitement.
