Re: Tempest/Vector Breakout (was Tempest Multigame)

I don't have anything against free-play modes from a conceptual
standpoint-- my beef is that some games treat free-play the same as if
coins have dropped. In some games that means the display just sits at a
screen saying "press start" and the demo mode/title screen/etc.
disappear forever.

Clay brings up an excellent point here! (and one of my pet peeves since I
started collecting).
The first thing I do when ever I get a new game is make it run on coins
again. I don't put any
of my collection on location, and all the games in my game room have little
rays of quarters for visitors
to play. Far to may of the classic games brought up a " Press Start " screen
after inserting a coin, robing
on lookers of the classic attractions of the demo screens, Hi scores etc.
(not the mention the additional burn in you adding to your monitor) The Only
game in my collection on
free play is Toobin because it doesn't have the static screen problem and
the buy in feature
of the game warrants a quick restart when you die. Hell half the "look and
feel" of the arcade machine
is dropping the coin down that slot, weather the coin is yours or not. Just
my 2 cents.... Soap Box Mode off..
