Before you attempt to remove the green band, you need to center it on the screen (don't keep it on the left). I believe you do this by rotating two of the magnets together, but my brother was working on the magnets while I looked at the screen, so I really can't say for sure. After the green band is in the center, *then* you move the yoke relative to the front of the screen. Also, the green band should be obtained by looking at a green cross-hatch (you only want the green gun to be used while setting this). Its unclear if thats what you were doing.

Be careful with this since the 6100 yoke wasn't meant to be used with the g08 deflection circuitry.
