<AOL>Me Too</AOL> They've always had the interests of the collecting
community at heart, and nobody can dispute that.

Although I've subscribed to the new vectorlist, I had no intention of
abandoning the old one until the results of the "experiment" had become
apparent after a few months; with last night's developments, this has
sadly become a moot point.

Yet another example of what I mean by "high standards". It's the Right
Thing To Do, and it's appreciated.

Oh, I'm sure VL:TNG will... (shudder!) Seriously -- running a list is an
immense responsibility, and I hope you enjoy *not* having to worry about
policy on the new list. As far as I'm concerned, you've more than earned
the right to laugh at those of us on the "limited commerce is OK" side of
the debate if the new list membership or management botches the job. You
told us so.

I'd also like to publicly thank the vectorlist owners for providing an
invaluable resource over the past few years - I firmly believe that the
vectorlist has been the "glue" that has held the collecting community
together since the start of the decline in RGVAC.

Without their efforts, dozens of games, including about half of my vector
collection, would still be waiting for critical repairs and restoration
efforts. *THAT*, and not this policy dispute, is what I'll remember about
"the first vectorlist" 5 years from now.

A list isn't a democracy - and the list owners have as much right to
retire from the field as the list readers. For better or for worse, the
guard appears to have changed today. It's now up to *all* of us to make
sure the new vectorlist meets the high standards set by the old one.

Later,
Doug.
