I've had a few (converta game and dedicated cabinet) and have never seen
a Star Trek with tinted plexi for the exact reason you specified. The
instructions are written on the cardboard behind the plastic and would
be hard to read in a dark arcade. I agree the tinted glass looks way
better on vector monitors. I don't think it's original though.
