You don't mention, but -- have you tried swapping monitors with another game,
to verify it IS in fact the board ?

I've said it before -- if you own vector games, buy an oscilloscope with an
X/Y mode. I got a cheap 20mhz model from Tech America on a closeout years
ago for about $250, and I haven't regretted it. Sure, I can't do much else
with it, but $250 << $1,000. It's a cheap, portable spare XY monitor, AND
can compare the waveforms comming out of a game board.

In fact -- radioshack.com currently has an Instek GOS-620 20mhz dual channel
scope on sale for $249.99 . I found another page that mentions it even has
a Z input.

This isn't the one I have, so I can't say anything about this one
specificly, but I would say that a scope is your best friend for
troubleshooting vector games.

Buy it -- scrimp on beer this month, tell your SO this is what you want for
Valentine's day -- you won't regret it. :-)
