The Star Castle speed up came from Cinematronics themselves. It's referred to
as Version 3 Star Castle (probably from the V3's written on the label).
It's just a ROM swap, they speeded up the Fireball's speed, and they greased the
bearings on the gun inside the rings (it spins faster from the get go, as it
attempts to track you).
I believe the ROMs are pretty readily available on one of those MAME ROM sites.
