Go to your local marine parts dealer. They sell a product to restore rotted
wood on boats. It's a 2 part catalyzed epoxy deal, you mix it together, put
it on the wood and it soaks in and hardens the wood to the point that you
can even sand and shape it. I think I even saw it used on "This Old House"
once to repair rotted windows. Can't remember the name of the product, but
they should know....
