What exactly did you do when the failure occured? Check all of the
connectors from the main power transistors (the ones mounted to the
metal chassis) going to the deflection board. With the monitor on,
wiggle the connectors around and observe the results. If it's not a
connector problem than it is likely that one of the four main defletion
transitors has died.
