that's the original degausing coil,
it may be faulty,

check the schematics because it's very simple.

the coil goes through a pair of diodes & a posistor (box with 2 or 3 legs) to the power.

when it's cold the posistor should be low resistance and so should the coil.
the posistors breakup inside sometimes.

if you desolder it and shake it, it should not rattle.
if it rattles it's fucked.

and check the diodes too, incase it took them out.
