The tests should run just fine (aka, work accurately) with the SW/ESB
kit installed. The SW/ESB is just a bit of a fancy memory-switcher with
no code modifications required to run (compared with the MultiPac or
Sega Multigame that have a lot of code-hacking applied).

(You might double-check that you're setting the test to also erase the
NOVRAM-- that can help sometimes.) I'm at a bit of a loss as to why
self-test would pass and the game wouldn't save though. If you look at
the 3.1 board so that the PLCC EPROMs are on the right-hand side, the
Star Wars NOVRAM should be the one on the far left.
