Pictures of your Star Wars

I'm looking for a few people to email me a photo or two of your Star Wars video display in action. I'd like to get a frame of reference to determine just how distorted my own system has become so I can see what I'm working towards as I repair mine. Certainly, on the emulators, all of the vectors are nice and crisp, and bright, but my actual machine has never quite looked as good. I've noticed the text is looking less and less straight these days, and the cursor looks like it's made of a bunch of squiggly lines. If I had a few real life examples, I'd have a better idea of what a realistic target to shoot for might be. If you say that your vectors are as crisp and straight as the lines on an emulator, great! I want to learn from you.. for the rest of you, please show me what you have.

I'd be happy to post a picture or two of my own display if anyone is interested, just so you can see what I'm talking about. I've only looked at the video on a scope so far and determined that it looks quite sharp there. Other than that, I haven't started any serious troubleshooting yet to even determine which subsystem(s) are actually at fault, but I figured that assessing the picture quality based on reality was a good first step.

The system has a WinTron from October of '97, and the deflection board and HV board had cap kits installed and a few other components like the +/- 24V regulators, BU406D, and deflection transistors replaced at that time. I haven't touched the electronics since then.

If you email me a photo, send it to joel.rosenzweig@verizon.net. Or send a link to it, either way.

Thanks for your time,
Joel-
